Tanya's Qualifications
Background
Dr Tanya Doman has been a licensed Physical Therapist for over 20 years  -15 of those years included
animal experience and education
!
After graduating at the very top of her class, she became skilled in all aspects of therapy~pediatrics through
geriatrics. Then in 2000, a lifelong love and experience in the animal world married together with the idea of
treating 4-legged, furry individuals-- originally born out of her own animals' necessity.
Since then, she has completed extensive continuing education to further her knowledge of these special
(non-human) clients! She is the only licensed Physical Therapist in Southern California who has her DPT
(Doctor of Physical Therapy) as well as her CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner)! She is a
frequent attendee at veterinary symposiums across the country as well as an avid reader of cutting edge
research so her treatments are modern, effective and evidence-based.
As a seasoned clinician, she has vast experience with wellness programs, post-injury rehabilitation and the
use of modalities as well as their purpose.  She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA),
Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist (ARI), Registered Yoga Teacher (YA) and Certified Small Animal
LASER practitioner. In addition, she is one of only a handful of Physical Therapists certified as an "Expert
Consultant" [and Practice Monitor] by the licensing examining board (PTB) of California.  Dr Doman has
served as an Expert Witness on civil legal matters related to physical therapy. She is the California Liaison to
the APTA's Animal Rehabilitation SIG since the inception of the program over a decade ago and remains a
tireless advocate for animal care and standards. She is also licensed in Tennessee and Colorado and
successfully obtained "Authority to Treat Animals" status in CO. In her off-time, she is a self-confessed
shophalic and practices amateur free-diving in Maui several times a year.
